Are you looking for an opportunity to provide learners with a unique learning experience? Are you interested in starting and sustaining a microschool? This program may be for you. Some of the qualifications for this opportunity include the following:
- Hold a Kansas Teaching License OR
- Have a high school diploma or a GED certificate and Complete 48 hours at an institution of higher education* OR
- Obtain an associate’s (or higher) degree OR Pass a State approved assessment that assesses the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or reading, writing, mathematics readiness).
- Assist with small-group instruction, communication outreach with learners and families, conferences, grades, technology issues, and test proctoring Each microschool may have a maximum of 20 learners. Each microschool will receive $3,200.00 per learner. Each microschool may have 2-3 adults that help to facilitate learning. The ratio is 10:1. All staff must pass a background check.
- Maintain the learner’s daily attendance records and abide by the program requirements for enrollment and funding as listed in the Kansas Virtual Education Requirements and Monitoring Plan document
- Follow the handbook and school calendar provided
- Rent or purchase learning space and pay other expenses
- Purchase and maintain materials, equipment, and furnishings
- Equitably compensate 1099 consultants in the microschool
- Market program and recruit families
- Attend professional development opportunities Pay for training or supplemental curriculum
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide learner support with special education teacher
- Work well with a team, accept and implement feedback, be coachable, maintain positive relationship
